There are four ferries on this line: “Blue Happiness,” “Blue Dolphin,” “Blue Mermaid” and “Blue Dolphin 2.” In one day, eight round trips are made.

Hakodate Ferry Terminal’s modern light-filled building and Aomori Ferry Terminal’s impressive terrace with its panoramic views add even more color to the cruising experience.

Origin of name: “Blue,” our corporate color and the image of Tsugaru Straits, and “happiness.” This ferry was given its name based on the concept of happiness for all passengers and people on the banks separated by the Tsugaru Straits, aiming to make more people smile in the Tsugaru Straits area.

Origin of name: Our corporate color “blue” and our image logo “dolphin,” that you can see in the Tsugaru Straits. “Blue Dolphin” operated on the line of Tsugaru Kaikyo Ferry connecting Aomori and Hakodate since 2010. It has been loved by many passengers for a long time. This well-known name was given to the new ferry going into service in October 2016. It aims to be a ferry loved by everyone, like a charming “dolphin” popular among children and adults.

Origin of name: Our corporate color “blue” and “dolphins” that we can see in the Tsugaru Straits. The name of “Blue Dolphin” loved by many passengers, which has connected the Tsugaru Straits Road “Aomori-Hakodate” line since 2010 as the first casual cruise ferry, was changed to “Blue Dolphin 2” in 2016. As well as undertaking the role as a flagship so far, the name includes a desire to maintain the Tsugaru Straits Road “Aomori-Hakodate” with “Blue Mermaid (2014),” “Blue Dolphin (2016)” and “Blue Happiness (2017).”

Various rooms and a hotel-like interior are its characteristics. It has a “dog room” and “dog deck,” allowing dog owners to enjoy the refreshing sea breeze on voyages with their pets. A day trip from Tokyo is possible as the shortest trip!It is convenient to travel to Oma by round-trip ferry.

“Daikanmaru” connects Oma Town, Aomori Prefecture located in the northernmost part of the main island and Hakodate. Fans from all over Japan visit Oma, famous for one of the biggest brands of bluefin tuna, hoping to eat fresh locally caught tuna at least once. Instead of going to Oma by car and enjoying sightseeing in Hakodate, some visitors have recently gone to Hakodate by airplane to visit Oma by the 90-minute “Daikanmaru” ferry ride. There has been an increase in visitors who go to eat tuna and return to Hakodate.
It’s also possible to leave Tokyo (Haneda) first thing in the morning and return in a day. Since shuttle buses are also operated from Hakodate Station to the Hakodate Ferry Terminal, you can enjoy a variety of transportation methods such as incorporating traveling by the Hokkaido Shinkansen.

One of the significant features of the “Oma-Hakodate” line, a nostalgic line connecting the main island and Hokkaido, is that you can easily enjoy traveling by ship for only 90 minutes. Since a table in the shape of tuna and specialties of Oma such as cypress products are displayed in the free space on the ferry, you will be reminded of and feel familiar with Oma Town in the northernmost part of the main island of Japan, even on the ferry.

“Daikanmaru” going into service as Japan’s first international ferry in 1964 (when it was called “Taikamaru”). The ferry name was named after the fully vibrant scenery at that time. It was renamed by residents in Oma Town, hoping to create new bustle in this town again.
